The Secrets of The Darkmoon Faire (Revisited)

Hello to all my readers!

Today, I felt it was a good time, to revisit an old blog post, that needed updating: The Secrets of The Darkmoon Faire This was originally posted back in 2015 and I felt it was in need of some love. As with a lot of markets within World of Warcraft they’re constantly changing; especially prices and the demand for items! A lot of what I recommended back in 2015, has since changed overtime and it’s only fair that I update those changes and offer some advice that may be profitable on the realm you play on!

It’s important to point out, that this is a guide that outlines what I do, if you wish to take this information on board and incorporate this on to your realm, be sure to use all the information available to you, to maximise your profit. Helpful websites/addons posted below, that can show current/average prices, realm populations etc. I use these and they’re an important foundation to every Gold Makers success!

CLASS TRIALS:
Now it’s important to start off by informing you, that Class Trial characters, can no longer access The Darkmoon Faire, so the exploit to farming Replica gear has been fixed. So what does this mean for us? Well, the over saturated Replica market, will slowly dry up, as the demand outweighs the quantity available and obviously has the potential to result in another rise in prices.

Alternatively, you have 2 options. Levelling DK’s through the starting area, rinse & repeating as originally pointed out by Sheyrah & Xionik or creating an allied Race character which starts at level 20 (be aware, that you cannot hand in all quest items and buy Replica items – as these have a level requirement of level 60) but you can purchase Battle Pets as there’s no level requirement.

WHAT IS THE DARKMOON FAIRE?
The Darkmoon Faire is a World event that is only available to you for one week from the 1st Sunday of each Month. To see if this event is available, simply open the Calendar in-game and you’ll see when/if it’s available.

The Darkmoon Faire has a lot to offer, from completing profession dailies, (helping you increase your profession level), fun mini-games and some rare bosses to conquer, with some decent loot, i.e. the Darkmoon Rabbit as a reward (if you’re lucky!). Most of these tasks, reward you with  Darkmoon Prize Ticket which if used correctly, can be used to purchase some profitable items, which you can sell on the Auction House.

DARKMOON QUEST ITEMS:
Darkmoon Faire Quest Items, are the most important items to loot (if you’re lucky). Be sure to have the  Darkmoon Adventurer’s Guide in your inventory! Now if you don’t have one, simply pay a visit to Selina Dourman who will give you a replacement. If the RNG Gods are against you, and you’re not fortunate enough to loot any/all of them, then you can purchase them, but do so before The Darkmoon Faire comes to Town. The prices sky-rocket to about *2000g each (dependant on realm)! I’d recommend buying them up mid-way through the Month when it’s closed, where you can buy these up anywhere below the *500g mark.

(*) Denotes current changes to Darkmoon Faire Quest Item prices since release of Battle for Azeroth. Check this blog post for a detailed explanation for the price changes.

As with a lot of markets in World of Warcraft, these prices greatly depend on the size of the realm you play on, and supply and demand. High populated realms, tend to have a lot of these quest items; with high competition, bring lower prices to the customer. Low populated realms, have lower competition and bring higher prices. To take advantage of all of this, just buy your quest items when The Darkmoon Faire is closed! Once we turn all these quests in, we are rewarded with some gold and 80  Darkmoon Prize Ticket!

Reminder: If you’re not exalted with The Darkmoon Faire, be sure to hit that Carousel before handing these quest items in, as you’ll receive an increase to your reputation gain.

Also: Be aware that you can only hand in one of each quest item per Month. There are 9 in total, which I’ve added below, including a TSM import string for your convenience.

Darkmoon Faire Quest Items:
Monstrous Egg (10  Darkmoon Prize Ticket)
Fallen Adventurer’s Journal (5  Darkmoon Prize Ticket)
Banner of the Fallen (5  Darkmoon Prize Ticket)
Captured Insignia (5  Darkmoon Prize Ticket)
Imbued Crystal (10  Darkmoon Prize Ticket)
Mysterious Grimoire (10  Darkmoon Prize Ticket)
Ornate Weapon (10  Darkmoon Prize Ticket)
Soothsayer’s Runes (15  Darkmoon Prize Ticket)
A Treatise on Strategy (10  Darkmoon Prize Ticket)

TSM Import String:
71635,71636,71637,71638,71715,71716,71951,71952,71953

With the information we have above, we have 2 options, loot/buy the quest items to earn  Darkmoon Prize Tickets, to purchase a range of items available from The Darkmoon Faire vendors (as outlined later) or loot/buy the quest items to flip at a later date when the demand for them is far greater (ideally the first Saturday of the Month, before the Faire is about to open).

SILAS’ SECRET STASH:
You can also earn  Darkmoon Prize Tickets, completing the quest Silas’ Secret Stash This is a quest chain, that can only be done ONCE PER CHARACTER! To get this quest, either fish up 100  Darkmoon Daggermaw or simply purchase them from your local Auction House (you’ll need to pay approximately 25g-50g per  Darkmoon Daggermawthen purchase  Faded Treasure Map from Galissa Sundew.

A great Gold-maker called OldBess, who creates awesome World of Warcraft GoldMaking content within the community, has created a great video showing you how to complete this quest chain. Please do like, share his video if you found it helpful. Also, please do subscribe to him, as you will get updates on future content, thank you!

The last alternative to gain  Darkmoon Prize Ticket, are to complete the Profession & Mini game dailies on the Darkmoon Island – also not forgetting the 2 Pet Battles Jeremy Feasel & Christoph VonFeasel (which can be completed every day till the Faire closes!) and The Den Mother’s Demise!

WHAT TO SPEND YOUR DARKMOON TOKENS ON?
Now hit (C) to open your character info, and check out the currency tab, here it will show you how many tokens you’ve collected and have available to spend. Ideally, if competition is low on your realm or prices are high, we will be looking at spending our tokens on Replica Transmog, but there are alternatives with Battle Pets if you prefer.

REPLICA TRANSMOG:
Replica pieces can be very profitable to sell on the Auction House and are purchased from Barum & Baruma. If you wish, you can also purchase the Heirloom replica’s; these are available from Daenrand Dawncrest. For the Belts, Bracers, and Gloves, these items will cost you 50  Darkmoon Prize Ticket each and for the Helm, Chest, Legs and Shoulder’s, these will set you back 75  Darkmoon Prize Ticket each! Be sure to use The Undermine Journal, to see what the most profitable piece is, for your realm.

As a rough guide, the minimum you could sell one piece for, is approximately 40k on a medium to low populated server. On a high populated server, anywhere around the 30k mark! Now, I know many of you will be sceptical, that’s only natural… so what better way to prove it by using our trusted friend Twitter! Simply head on over to Twitter, and in the search box, add the following #Replica #Transmog this will show you all the tweets tagged with Replica Transmog! The Tweets from the top, show you recent sales/activity, during Legion, and if you scroll down, you might be lucky to see sales from previous expansions. This will outline, how drastic the prices have changed over time/expansion.

To help with posting, or maybe buying the Replica’s for flipping, I’ve added below the links of the gear sets and a link to my Replica TSM Import string at my Pastebin for your convenience.

BATTLE PETS:
If you delve into the Battle Pet market like myself, you’ll be interested by this section. Lhara is the Darkmoon Pet & Mount Vendor and sells a collection of pets that you can cage and uncage to sell on the Auction House. These pets can be bought for 90  Darkmoon Prize Tickets each and can be sold at level 1 for approximately 10-15k each… but you may wish to level them to 25, to gain that extra 5-10k each. If there’s a pet of interest, be sure to check out wow-pets and see what the current average price for that given pet is for your realm. This is a great source of information, if you dabble in the Battle Pet market.

Reminder: Be sure to kill the Darkmoon Rabbit too, this pet still sells for a nice amount if you manage to loot one. People are posting at 30k-45k but I’ve been managing to buy them up to sell at 90k-100k still.

Again, for your convenience, you can find my Darkmoon Battle Pets TSM Import String from my pastebin HERE. This also includes, rare (and uncommon where possible) level 1 and 25 pet IDs and also the Darkmoon Rabbit IDs.

This is all the Darkmoon Faire stuff I deal in, but there’s an array of stuff, that you can do, that I’ve not even touched on. The best guide that I can recommend is from Wowhead and it’s the one I use, when I need to do profession dailies on my alts, check it out HERE! Be sure to give it a rating and leave a comment if you found it helpful!

Many thanks for reading, I hope this updated guide, helps you understand a little more of what I do within this special event and the changes to the prices and improved emphasis on the importance of realm populations to maximise your end product. Because at the end of the day, that’s what we’re all thriving to do as Gold Makers – make the most amount of gold as possible, with the least amount of effort/time.

If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up on Twitter, I will do my best to help where necessary. If you’d prefer, DM me and I will reply at the earliest convenience.

Until next time… take care!

Pre-Cataclysm Rare Shirts

A very good morning guys. Today I bring you a very early blog this morning, in an attempt to give you a very good warning, regarding any alts or maybe your main, that you may have created prior to the release of Cataclysm, that may have some old shirts either equipped or stored in your personal bank.

As you’ll be aware by now, in a couple of days time, July 19th to be exact, the Legion pre-patch will finally be going live and this will bring the long awaited Transmog Wardrobe. As well as the ability to change the look of your Weapons and Armor, you’ll also have the ability to learn those shirts, Tabards you’ve collected over time. However, there’s some very nice shirts out there, most that are unobtainable any longer and these maybe equipped on old alts or stored in personal banks.

Now is the best time to quickly log into all of your alts and quickly check whether they have any rare shirts equipped. If hey don’t, fear not, simply check your bank too. Remember, we’re specifically looking for rare shirts that were starting shirts prior to the release of Cataclysm. Below I’ve added a list of the rare starter shirts.

Shirts:
Brawler’s Harness,  Footpad’s Shirt,  Initiate’s Shirt,  Lookout’s Tunic,  Primitive Mantle,  Primitive Mantle,  Recruit’s Shirt,  Recruit’s Shirt,  Rugged Trapper’s Shirt,  Scout’s Shirt,  Squire’s Shirt,  Squire’s Shirt,  Thug Shirt,  Trapper’s Shirt,  Trapper’s Shirt,  Warder’s Shirt

If you’re like myself and don’t have any, feel free to check your Auction House as there maybe some there. Here’s a TSM String to help you search!

TSM Import String:
127,148,154,20897,20901,2105,23345,23473,23476,24143,49,6117,6120,6125,6134,6136

When checking the Auction House for shirts, be aware and cautious for shirts that may look rare, but are not! The shirts to be wary of are available from a vendor called Thomas Yance in Old Hillsbrad Foothills. I’ve added his shirts below.

Vendor Shirts:
 Recruit’s Shirt,  Squire’s Shirt,  Neophyte’s Shirt,  Apprentice’s Shirt,  Acolyte’s Shirt

Be sure not to buy these off the Auction House, many people will be looking to profit from those unsure of these shirts. The obvious trick is putting the  Squire’s Shirt on the Auction House and trick buyers, as this looks very similar to  Squire’s Shirt but both are different!

If you have no interest in using any of these rare shirts, MAKE SURE THEY’RE NOT EQUIPPED PRIOR TO PRE-PATCH as they’ll become soulbound on the 19th! Un-equip them and place them in your bag and get them on the Auction House asap. Most have a guide price from 50k upwards according to Wowhead, but they could easily demand a higher price, due to them no long available. Don’t be scared to price them very high at the start of the Legion Pre-Patch and if you get no buyers, feel free to slowly reduce the price. Alternatively, do what I’m doing and leave them as high as possible, as you’ll get a completionist sooner or later, the price will only go up as they become rarer as others get learned.

Hope this helps guys, have fun and see you in Legion! HYPE!

Ilvl 397 BoE Wrists and Boots Transmog

I’ll be honest, but I’ve kind of stumbled upon this today, but it’s definitely worth sharing just in case some of you have missed this too.

There are two vendors, one in Orgrimmar called Jamus’Vas and one in Stormwind called Faldren Tillsdale. They sell the old Valor ilvl 397 items, which are available for gold.  The items we’re interested in are the BoE (Bind on Equip) Wrists and Boots. These items vary from as little as 140g to 220g each (depending on your reputation) and the returns when sold on the auction house are excellent.

Now it’s important, that when you visit either of these vendors, and interact with them, that you use the drop down menu and select available to all and BoE. This will show everything available to all classes not just yours! Showing BoE (Bind on Equip) will eliminate items also available for BoP (Bind on Pickup). If you dont follow this, be very careful you dont accidently purchase something that is BoP. You will not be able to resell anything BoP. Ive made this error many times in the past with vendor recipes, something I learnt very quickly.

I’d suggest checking out TuJ (The Undermine Journal) too and check what prices these go for on your auction house. Once you’re happy with any of the items, buy one of each and post to the auction house.

Example:

Rooftop Griptoes

Bought: 450g
Sold: 5299g

ilvl 397 boots - transmog

As I always say, the Transmog market is a very volatile and competitive market, you may make a sale within hours, days or even months, but the Transmog market is one of patience, to reap the full return on investment.

The Secrets of the Darkmoon Faire

Many people within World of Warcraft will not be familliar with this strategy, but Ive been using it to my advantage for as long as I can remember and I have amassed atleast 45% of my gold balance from doing it. Now this is pretty limited, as you can only get the items during the the Darkmoon Faire.

Now, I can hear you asking, what is this big secret? well… it’s the opportunity to purchase Replica transmog items, from the vendor Baruma for a measly amount of Darkmoon Prize Tickets. The important part of this strategy, is to buy Darkmoon Quest Items, which Ive listed below this paragraph for you, once these are turned in, you will get a small amount of gold or experience (depending on your level) and more importantly the Darkmoon prize tickets. Do this on all your alts too, like I do. Remember, the tickets are BoP, but once you’ve bought your Replica transmog items, they’re BoE and tradable.

Darkmoon Quest Items:
Monstrous Egg
Fallen Adventurer’s Journal
Banner of the Fallen
Captured Insignia
Imbued Crystal
Mysterious Grimoire
Ornate Weapon
Soothsayer’s Runes
A Treatise on Strategy

TSM import string:
71635,71636,71637,71638,71715,71716,71951,71952,71953

You can buy each of the quest items from the Auction House for as little as 10g and as much as 500g for the higher demand items, you may even prefer to farm them. If this is the case, check the links out on the items above and see where they drop from. Personally, I buy them off the Auction House about 2 weeks before the Darkmoon Faire comes, as they maybe cheaper, than when it’s in Town. It’s a small amount of gold compared to what you’ll make on the Replica transmog items you sell. Dont forget to do the daily’s in the area too, whether it’s profession daily’s or the game daily’s for extra tickets, every little helps…

Quest – Silas’ Secret Stash:
As well as the Darkmoon Quest items above, you can also complete a quest called Silas’ Secret Stash. This can only be completed once on any one character and doesn’t reset! This quest costs 100  Darkmoon Daggermaw and you can buy this quest from the vendor Galissa Sundew at co-ords [52.88]. Once you have started the quest, you’ll notice that you’ve been given a set of clues and some treasure to find.

I’ve added a video below, from a very good streamer called oldbess. He does many awesome videos, helping his viewers make gold in Warcraft. Be sure to leave some feedback and a like if you found his video on this quest helpful.

The Replica Gear:
Instead of posting links for every Replica item available, I will instead link every Replica set, you can go through the page to see the individual items. You will also notice the item it’s replicating.

I  have made a Replica Transmog Import String for TSM which you can find HERE.

If you’re confident that you can get these items cheaper on the Auction House, feel free to purchase them to flip. I can sell Replica gear between 20-30k at the moment, so I’m happy to buy at 10k to guarantee a healthy flip.

Sales:
Each item within each set will be worth considerably more than another, this is where you’ll have the task to check your Auction House and see what the prices are and then purchase the best item that will maximise your profit.  Below are a couple of screenshots I took today showing what sales you could make, by investing in a small amount of gold and a little time.

Vanguard Plate Set

In my previous two posts, I covered the items needed to complete your Glorious plate set and Lofty plate set. Today , I bring you the Vanguard Plate set. Again, this is a recolour of the original Glorious Plate set. Most of these items, can be farmed from AQ20 (Ruins of AhnQ’iraj).

AQ20 is situated South of Silithus, Kalimdor.

Slot – Item – Average Pricevanguard plate set

Helm – Vanguard Headdress – 7k
Shoulder – Vanguard Pauldrons – 5k
Chest – Vanguard Breastplate – 17.5k
Legs – Vanguard Legplates – 50k
Wrists – Vanguard Vambraces – 8k
Hands –  Vanguard Gauntlets – 4k
Waist – Vanguard Girdle – 4k
Feet – Vanguard Sabatons – 3.5k

These items are highly desired and have an extremely low drop rate, whether you’re collecting these pieces for your own set, or simply farming transmog to sell, these items can easily net you anywhere from as little as 3.500g to as much as 50.000g. This is server dependent of course. Prices will fluctuate depending on your servers demand and competition. So be sure to check the Auction House to see what competition you have. As a rule of thumb, you can always use The Undermine Journal (TUJ) to get important information.

Ive had some success farming items from all three of these sets, but it really knuckles down to RNG and your luck. Drop me a line below and tell me about your experiences, or maybe you’ve made a nice sale, selling these items.

Anyway, have any questions, get in touch and will get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks for reading and good luck!

Lofty Plate Set

In this post, i’ll be covering the Lofty Plate set, which is a recolour to the Glorious Plate set. The items for this set can also be farmed from AQ20 (Ruins of AhnQ’iraj), but sadly like the Glorious Plate set, the items have an extremely low drop rate. With this being the case AQ20 is still the ideal place to farm these items.

AQ20 is situated South of Silithus, Kalimdor.

Slot – Item – Average valueLofty plate set

Helm – Lofty Helm – 18k
Shoulder – Lofty Shoulder Pads – 3.2k
Chest – Lofty Breastplate – 18k
Legs – Lofty Legguards – 9.5k
Wrists – Lofty Armguards – 4k
Hands – Lofty Gauntlets – 6k
Waist – Lofty Belt – 7k
Feet – Lofty Sabatons – 6k

Items towards the Lofty Plate set, can go for as little as 3.000g to as high as 18.000g on the Auction House (AH). So even if you’re not farming these items for yourself, they are still a nice little earner if you plan to sell them.

As posted in my previous post, you can also collect the Glorious Plate set and the Vanguard Plate set, these offer different colours to that of the set above. Always check the Auction House to see if there’s much demand or competition if you plan to sell any of these items. The Undermine Journal (TUJ) is a fantastic website if you’re in need of any details on prices etc.

Check out my next post where i cover the last set, the Vanguard Plate set.

Thanks for reading and be sure to share your success stories.

Glorious Plate Set

The Glorious Plate set is a very high demand transmog set which has an extremely low drop chance. You can farm the items towards this set within AQ20 (Ruins of AhnQ’iraj). AQ20 was a classic raid instance back in Vanilla Wow, it can be easilly farmed, with plenty of mobs to kill and loot. It’s without doubt the best place to go if you’re in need of items for this set.

AQ20, is situated south of Silithus in Kalimdor.

Slot – Item – Average ValueGlorious plate set

Helm – Glorious Headdress6.5k
Shoulders – Glorious Shoulder Pad18.5k
Chest – Glorious Breastplate4.5k
Legs – Glorious Legplates95k
Wrist – Glorious Bindings1.5k
Hands – Glorious Gauntlets9k
Waist – Glorious Belt5k
Feet – Glorious Sabatons9.5k

You can also farm items towards the Lofty Plate set and the Vanguard Plate set from AQ20 too. These sets offer a different colour skin to that of the set above. These are also on high demand, due to the extremely low drop rate. Prices for any of these desired items can vary from as low as 1.500g to anywhere up to 95.000g. It really knuckles down to your server and demand.

My advice would be to always check your Auction House (AH) to see whether there’s a demand for it and if there’s none there, good, go check out The Undermine Journal (TUJ). TUJ is a fantastic website, to get information regarding any item you can think of within World of Warcraft. You can see details like prices, amount posted on the auction house etc. Another thing to consider would be looking at downloading TradeSkillMaster (TSM). This addon has so much to offer, the information alone within tooltips is an absolute godsend.

Check my next two posts, highlighting the Lofty Plate set and Vanguard Plate set. Be sure to comment below if you’ve been successful enough to loot one of these items, maybe you’ve sold one and made alot of gold too.

Thanks for reading guys and hope the RNG gods are smiling down on you…
